Where’s my tribe?

Do you ever feel like you're on a solo mission, navigating the twists and turns of entrepreneurship without a compass? You're navigating the entrepreneurial roller coaster, filled with highs, lows, unexpected loops, and the occasional stomach-drop. Trust me, you're not alone. I had all of these feelings, and more, in a 6-hour period. And the next day I cried.

But, let me go back a step.

I received a spot at Emma McQueen's 'Go Getter's Day'. It was an eye opening experience. It was equal parts inspiring and overwhelming. I won't lie. I shed more than a few tears from ALL the feelings that were cascading over me. There were even tears when I had a one-on-one call with Emma.

That was when I realised I need to give myself permission to step back and look at all I HAVE achieved in a short amount of time, as well as take a good hard look at who is in my network, my tribe, my circle of cheerleaders. The ones who push me from my comfort zone, can lift me up when I feeling like I'm drowning, and who I can also do this for (because it goes both ways).

Why Your Tribe is Your Secret Sauce:

We all crave connection, support, and a tribe to call our own. In these moments, having a tribe to turn to can make all the difference.

  • Support Through the Storms: When the going gets tough (and trust me, it will), your tribe is there to weather the storms with you. Whether it's a business setback, a creative block, or a personal challenge, having a supportive network can provide the encouragement and perspective you need to keep pushing forward.

  • Celebrating the Wins: Big or small, every win deserves to be celebrated. Your tribe is there to pop the virtual champagne, high-five you, and remind you of your awesomeness when you hit milestones or achieve goals. Plus, sharing your successes with others can amplify the joy and motivation.

  • Accountability and Feedback: Ever feel like you're stuck in your own echo chamber? Your tribe can offer fresh perspectives, honest feedback, and gentle nudges to keep you accountable to your goals. They'll challenge you to think differently, push you out of your comfort zone, and ultimately help you grow as a business owner and individual.

Three Actions to Nurture Your Network:

  • Audit Your Circle: Take a moment to assess your current network. Who are the people you turn to for advice, inspiration, or support? Are they aligned with your values and goals? Weed out any toxic connections or relationships that no longer serve you. Remember, quality trumps quantity when it comes to your tribe.

  • Reach Out and Reconnect: Don't be afraid to initiate conversations and reconnect with old contacts or acquaintances who share your entrepreneurial spirit. Send a friendly message, schedule a coffee date, or hop on a Zoom call to catch up and see how you can support each other's journeys. You never know where these rekindled connections might lead.

  • Join Communities: Whether it's online forums, industry-specific groups, mastermind circles, or local(ish) networking events, seek out communities where you can connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. Engage in conversations, share your experiences, ask for advice, and offer support to others. Building genuine relationships within these communities can lead to invaluable connections and opportunities.

Finding Your Tribe, Building Your Empire:

If you're feeling like a lone wolf in the entrepreneurial wilderness, fear not! Building your tribe is entirely within reach. Start by nurturing existing connections, seeking out new ones, and actively participating in communities where you feel a sense of belonging.

Remember, your tribe is out there, waiting to cheer you on, lift you up, and remind you that you're never alone on this journey. So, go ahead, take those first steps, and watch your network grow into the support system you've always dreamed of.
